Texas Recycling Day

Keep Midland Beautiful is inviting households to donate recyclable items at the annual Texas Recycles Day Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Midland College Chaparral Center parking lot, 3600 N. Garfield.

Items to be collected include computers, cell phones, hard drives, printers, televisions and other electronic devices (maximum six per vehicle); and tires (maximum four per vehicle); #1 and #2 plastic, paper, newspaper, cardboard and aluminum cans. For more information, see Keep Midland Nice site.

Christmas tree lighting in the city, parades

Community Tree Lighting 2022 will take place on December 6th at 6:30pm at Centennial Park. Bowie Fine Arts Academy Choir and The Midland High School Legend Carolers will perform. Santa will also be present for photos.

The Anyone Can Be Santa Lighted Christmas Parade – presented by the City of Midland Parks and Recreation Division – takes place on December 10th at 6:30pm. The parade takes place in downtown Midland and ends at Centennial Park.

All cars must be registered with Parks and Recreation by the December 8th deadline. Registration forms are available online at https://www.midlandtexas.gov/Christmas, picked up at the MLK Jr. Community Center, 2300 Butternut Lane or the Parks Office, 2701 W. Elizabeth. Completed forms can be submitted to the MLK Jr. Community Center (2300 Butternut Lane, Midland, Texas, 79705) or mailed to Joey Jolly at [email protected]
