Texas Health Action wants to “rock the ribbon” and offers free HIV tests on World AIDS Day

Kind Clinic offers free walk-in tests austin, Dallas and San Antonio

Austin, Texas, November 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Texas Health Action — a community-informed non-profit organization that provides access to quality health services in a safe and supportive environment — will offer free HIV testing starting on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2022at Kind Clinic locations in austin, Dallas and San Antonio. Texas Health Action’s HIV initiative, Rock the Ribbon, aims to raise awareness of HIV through free walk-in testing and community engagement. Everyone is entitled to free testing, regardless of immigration status or ability to pay. No appointment is required.

In addition to HIV testing, Kind Clinic offers HIV care, access to the HIV prevention drugs PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis). People living with HIV who have an undetectable viral load cannot transmit the virus sexually, which is known as Undetectable = Untransmittable or U=U.

People who already know their status and want to get started with PrEP or PEP can use “Rock the Ribbon” and have themselves tested free of charge at the following places and times without an appointment:

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), gay and bisexual men accounted for 70% of new HIV diagnoses Texas In 2018, black and Hispanic men accounted for most of these new diagnoses. Additionally, 51% of women who received a new HIV diagnosis in 2018 were Black women.

Texas Health Action also provides access to HIV prevention and treatment for all Texas Residents 18 years and older through TeleKind, a telesexual health service with the same stigma and non-judgment service offered at Kind Clinic.

Virtual appointments are made possible through secure two-way video with a healthcare provider specialized in each of the services offered by TeleKind. Patients are also assigned a personal care navigator to guide them through the appointment process, care plans and prescription ordering to ensure medication is at little to no cost to the patient and the prescription is delivered directly to the patient.
