AUSTIN, TX – Legendary Texas artist Asleep At The Wheel will perform after the Texas Baylor game on November 25th at Longhorn City Limits presented by Still Austin Whiskey! The concert series on LBJ Lawn is FREE to all fans and kicks off at 8:00am with very special guest Django Walker taking the stage at 9:30am. After the football game, Asleep At The Wheel concludes a fantastic season of Longhorn City Limits.
Asleep at the Wheel was founded in 1970 and recently celebrated its 50th anniversaryth Anniversary. The revolutionary swing band from Texas, led by frontman Ray Benson, is a 10-time Grammy Award winner and has released 31 albums and charted more than 20 singles on the country charts over the course of an illustrious career. A lifelong Longhorns fan, Benson has made numerous appearances at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, the Frank Erwin Center and UFCU Disch-Falk Field over the years. AATW has kept the western swing flame burning for decades while inspiring a new generation of artists. The band was inducted into the ACL Hall of Fame in 2015 and has 11 performances on the historic Austin city limits TV series.
Austin native Django Walker takes to the LCL stage at 9:30 am Tempi strikes a kinship with a younger generation. Drawing on influences such as his father, Jerry Jeff Walker, Coldplay, Tom Petty, Guy Clark and Pat Green, Django embodies the blend of eclectic musical influences that has always defined Texas music’s distinct independence. His single “Texas Longhorn” is embraced by Longhorn Nation and is a staple at Texas Athletics events.
Fans aged 21+ can enjoy new signature activations at Longhorn City Limits for the 2022 season. Upon entering the LBJ Lawn, fans are invited to experience the Still Austin Music Lounge, which will serve a full menu of refreshments, including signature Horns Up Bourbon Lemonade on ice, and to relax in a shaded area while enjoying the show . Fans won’t want to miss surprises and limited edition swag curated by Still Austin Whiskey Co, the homegrown grain-to-glass craft distillery using 100% Texas grain.
Relax at Tito’s Tailgate and enjoy refreshing Tito’s cocktails on tap, a shady view of the stage and live college football streaming to the tailgate in true Texas fashion.
Concert-goers can also enjoy Stubb’s BBQ and snap a photo in front of the LCL Guitar Monument, located on the west curb of LBJ Lawn near Robert Dedman Drive.
