Game Day: Things to know about the Kansas game

LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech returns to Jones AT&T Stadium for its first of two home games to wrap up the regular season on Saturday as Red Raiders welcome Kansas in a 6 p.m. kickoff. Tickets are still available and can be purchased through the Texas Tech Ticket Office.

Below is a list of game day information for fans to expect when they enter Jones AT&T Stadium on Saturday and throughout the season.

THE CELEBRATE AMERICA GAME

Texas Tech will continue its longstanding tradition of honoring the brave heroes who fought for our country with its annual Celebrate America Game on Saturday. Texas Tech will recognize each branch of the military, its campus military and veteran programs, and the Texas Tech Army and Air Force ROTC throughout the game. Texas Tech will have Celebrate America t-shirts for the first 3,000 students to enter through Gate 6 before kickoff.

As part of the pregame celebrations, a US Air Force Academy Wings of Blue paratrooper team will descend into Jones AT&T Stadium with approximately 20 minutes remaining. There will be a total of six skydivers who will jump from a Texas Air Guard C-130 in Fort Worth.

General Charles Q. Brown Jr., United States Air Force Chief of Staff and 1984 graduate of Texas Tech University, will also be in attendance and will be honored before the game. Brown, who will be attending several campus events this weekend, was appointed to his position in June 2020, becoming the first black military service department chief in U.S. history.

Texas Tech will also honor the memory of the 13 American service members killed in a terrorist attack in Kabul on August 26, 2021, marking one of the deadliest days for American forces in the past decade. The attack came just days before the US planned full withdrawal from Afghanistan, ending a 20-year stay in the country. Nine of the 13 families will take part in an on-site recognition, which will take place just before the national anthem.

DRESS WARMLY, RED RAIDERS
With temperatures expected to hit the 40s by Saturday’s kick-off, Texas Tech would like to remind fans that blankets, hand warmers and other cold-weather gear are permitted at Jones AT&T Stadium. In addition, hot chocolate (no coffee) will be available from any concession stand in the hall during the game. Please schedule security personnel to check all items at each entrance. As a reminder, Texas Tech’s clear bag policy remains in effect for the game.

MEET THE RED RAIDERS FOR THE SATURDAY RAIDER WALK AT 3:45 PM
The Red Raiders are greeted by hundreds of their passionate fans during the Raider Walk at Jones AT&T Stadium every Saturday. Fans can greet the Red Raiders approximately two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff every Saturday, when Texas Tech offloads the team buses immediately south of the Sports Performance Center and heads north down the Drive of Champions Avenue to the home tunnel.

JOIN THE PARTY PREPLAY AT RAIDER ALLEY PRESENTED BY BUD LIGHT

There’s no better place on game day than Raider Alley presented by Bud Light. Alcoholic beverages and food from the likes of Papa Johns, Howdy Homemade Ice Cream and Now We Taco’n will be available throughout the season along with an onsite video game truck, inflatable obstacle course and face painters.
