A 26-year-old Texas man was arrested this week for allegedly killing a 36-year-old woman by smashing her head in with a rock and then dismembering her as part of a sacrifice. Ethan Kyle Myers was taken into custody on Sunday and charged with evading arrest and murder in the death Sarah Hopsonsay the authorities.

two others, All price and Teresa Louvierewere also arrested in connection with Hopson’s death and charged with tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to interfere with a human corpse, prison records show.

Deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office were responding to a request for welfare review from a person at a home on the 3600 block of Country Road in Joaquin around 4:00 p.m. on Nov. 13. Upon entering the residence, first responders on site discovered Hopson’s lifeless body, SCSO Public Relations Officer Leah Chase it says in a press release.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained from Nacogdoche’s CBS affiliate KYTX, police say Price and Louviere went to the sheriff’s office on Sunday and applied for welfare, telling the deputies they believed “Ethan Myers did something to Sarah Hopson”.

They reportedly said Myers stayed at her home and began acting strange before fleeing the home. Myers was reportedly covered in blood. Price and Louviere also noted that they hadn’t seen Hopson in more than a day.

Price reportedly said Myers was involved in “cult activities.”

The deputies who discovered Hopson’s body reportedly found that all of her fingers and toes had been removed, along with both of her ears. The removed body parts were reportedly found in a clear freezer bag that had been placed between Hopson’s legs. She also appeared to have sustained a large laceration to the right side of her head.

Later that day, investigators reportedly spoke to Myers’ mother. She allegedly said Myers told her Hopson asked him to “sacrifice her” and he did as she asked. The mother also reportedly said that Myers “hears voices and is satanic,” before telling investigators that her son hid in the woods to avoid a return to prison.

Crime scene investigators reportedly found Hopson’s body in a bedroom. It had been rolled up in the middle of a rug. MPs reportedly said the room smelled of paint and the walls appeared to have been recently painted. Several paint cans were found in the room, as well as “several” Dollar General bags filled with an assortment of cleaning supplies, the affidavit said.

A tool that indicates the presence of blood spatter, even after wiping it down with household cleaning supplies, reportedly showed large amounts of blood on the bedroom walls and stains on the bedroom dresser. The walls also appeared to be covered with smudge marks, which reportedly indicated someone had attempted to clean the walls.

A search of Myers’ vehicle reportedly found a shovel, several plastic bags, a gallon of gas, a hammer and a large rock in a garbage bag that smelled of gas. Investigators reportedly said that part of the large rock appeared to match the head wound Hopson sustained.

Price and Louviere are both being held on a $250,000 bond. Myers is being held in the Shelby County Jail on $1.25 million bail.

Most modern Satanists do not advocate violence or even worship Satan. The Church of Satan, founded in the 1960s, says that Satan “is a symbol of pride, freedom, and individualism, and serves as an outward metaphorical projection of our highest personal potential,” according to its website. “We do not believe in Satan as a being or as a person.”

It is unclear whether or not Myers was a follower of the organized Church of Satan.
