Times for the second and third rounds of NCAA women’s soccer have been established

CHAPEL HILL, NC – The University of North Carolina will host the second and third rounds of the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Tournament from Thursday, November 17 through Saturday, November 19.

Second-seeded North Carolina (16-4-1) advanced to the second round with a 5-0 win over Old Dominion in the first round at Dorrance Field on Saturday to earn the right to the next two align rounds.

Carolina’s second-round game comes Thursday at 5 p.m. against seventh-seeded Georgia (13-5-3) after the game between No. 3-seeded Stanford (17-2-2) and No. 6-seeded BYU (11 -2-6) scheduled for 2:00 p.m

The winners of the two matches will then go head-to-head on Saturday, November 19 at 11:30am to advance to the Quarterfinals.

UNC redshirt freshman Ally Sennor scored the first brace of her career, scoring in the sixth and 60th minutes to lead the Tar Heels to first-round victory. Senior Thor Hansen collected a pair of assists from Maddie Dahlias and Avery Patterson.

The Tar Heels are 22-0 all-time in second-round games played at Chapel Hill, including a 4-0 win over Georgia in 2009. The Bulldogs scored one in the first round on Friday in Athens 2-0 win over Samford and earned their first tournament win since 2011. UGA have scored every one of their first-half goals against Samford and are 3-0-2 in their last five games.

Stanford comes to Chapel Hill after a dominant 6-0 win over San Jose State in their first-round game Friday night. Freshman Jasmine Aikey scored four goals in the second half, including three in three minutes. PAC-12 champion Stanford is 10-0-1 in their last 11 games.

BYU, who played UNC in an exhibition game at Dorrance Field earlier this season, returns to Chapel Hill after a 3-0 win over Utah Valley State on Friday night. The West Coast Conference champion Cougars go into Thursday’s game against Stanford on a three-game winning streak and are undefeated in their last 12 games (8-0-4).

Quarterfinals will be played on campus November 25-26 and the 41st annual NCAA Women’s College Cup will be played December 32-5 at Wake Med Soccer Park in Cary, NC
