North Carolina: Are you ready to trot to Turkey this Thanksgiving?

Apparently Thanksgiving Day is one of the biggest running days of the year! I mean, if you want to burn off a few calories before you eat them, it makes sense! I am very proud of you. (However, for me personally, no day is a running day). But if you are then good news. This Thanksgiving, the 34th Annual CPI Security Charlotte Turkey Trot is being held at SouthPark Mall. 8,000 runners are expected to take part in 8K, 5K, 1M and Tot Trot events (I might be able to handle that!). This makes the Charlotte, North Carolina version of the Turkey Trot the largest community running event in the state. Wow!

And it’s not just about running. Sponsor CPI will be there on Thanksgiving morning with a prize wheel and a Big Red Chair photo op. Other event partners include Novant Health, ALLY, Pridemore/Compass, Harris Teeter and Ficken Lincoln. These sponsors will host on-site amenities and provide post-race giveaways for participants. This includes fruit, water, snacks, coffee and hot chocolate, beer tastings, a costume contest, great music and more!

“Our event is all about family, community and tradition,” explains David Jessey, one of the event directors. “And we’re grateful to have CPI Security and a world-class list of partners who really help us improve the event day experience for attendees.” 20% of all sponsorship proceeds go directly to charities. Samaritan’s Feet is the primary beneficiary of proceeds from the event, which provides shoes for children in the Charlotte area. In addition, the event promotes the annual CMPD Toy Drive and encourages attendees to donate toys to boys and girls under the age of 14 locally.

Register for the Charlotte North Carolina Turkey Trot

Registration for the event is open until Wednesday 23 November. Events begin and end at SouthPark Mall beginning at 8:00 am with the 1 Mile, followed by the 8K at 8:10 am and the 5K at 9:10 am.
