  • Michael Zarif prevailed in overtime with an exciting 11-9 decider at 149 pounds. Zarif defeated Chris Sandoval, a former NCAA qualifier, with an ankle pick to give the Bearcats their first win of the afternoon.

  • At 184 pounds, No. 23 Jacob Nolan scored a 7-0 decision win over Damen Pape. Nolan sealed the deal late in the third period after securing a takedown that led to four back points with a near-side cradle right before the final buzzer.

  • #7 Lou DePrez took control early on Xavier Vasquez and dazzled the crowd with multiple takedowns en route to a 14-2 major decision at 197lbs.

  • Cory day secured a 3:47 fall in his first career match at 285 pounds. Day was the 184-pound starter for the Bearcats last season.

“We talk about it all the time, bonus points win doubles and we lost a couple of games that I thought we could win,” said the head coach Kyle Borshoff. “We have been beaten in many operational situations. We’ve had delay calls and hands-to-the-face calls against us and our guys have to be better. We’ve lost three very close games and will we win games next weekend? We have a lot of areas to clean up this afternoon where we’ve struggled.”
