Floral portrait of Tanner Denton who will be featured on the Rose Parade float in honor of his life saving gifts of life

DENVER, Nov. 16, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Grand Junction, Colorado-based organ, eye and tissue donor Tanner Denton will represent the Centennial State at the 2023 Donate Life Rose Parade as a Floragraph Honoree® float on January 2nd. The Donate Life community is celebrating its 20th birthdayth Year of participating in the legendary New Year’s Day Rose Parade celebrations that have made the Donate Life Rose Parade the world’s most visible campaign to encourage donations. Denton’s Floragraph will be among the 44 floral commemorative portraits of organ, eye and tissue donors from across the country that will adorn the float.

“The incredible impact of donation and transplantation is profound, and the impact is spreading far and wide,” said Jennifer Prinz, President and CEO of Donor Alliance, which sponsors Denton’s Floragraph. Donor Alliance is the state-designated, non-profit organ procurement organization serving Colorado and most of Wyoming. “With participants from across the country, the float is a visual representation of life touched by organ, eye and tissue donation. It’s an honor to pay tribute to Tanner and his legacy this year, and we’re incredibly grateful to his family for letting us share their story. With nearly 1,500 people in Colorado awaiting life-saving transplants, we hope Tanner’s story will inspire Colorado residents and people across the country to register as donors.”

The float of the Donate Life Rose Parade 2023, lift each other up, celebrates the power of organ, eye and tissue donation, where donors and recipients work together to support one another. A spectacular Chinese street dragon is the centerpiece of the car. The colorful dragon will wind its way through flowering trees, lanterns and fans and be adorned with the Floragraphs representing those who, like Denton, gave the gift of life. Before the parade, Denton’s family will gather at Grand Junction Rockies Stocker Stadium to put the finishing touches on his floragraph at an event that will honor his life and legacy.

Denton was best known as a baseball player in his hometown of Grand Junction, Colorado, but because of his huge heart and desire to always lend a helping hand, that was only a small part of why he was loved by so many. He was just 23 years old when he died in a tragic accident in August 2016. In the days and months after Denton’s death, his legacy of helping others continued through organ, eye and tissue donations. He helped save the lives of two people through a kidney donation. His corneas helped a woman in Ireland restore her sight and he enabled another young man to play baseball again after receiving some of his tissue.

The nationally televised Rose Parade begins January 2, 2023 at 8 a.m. and will be broadcast live in the US by broadcast partners ABC, NBC, HGTV, Hallmark Channel, Univision and others. For more information about the 2023 Donate Life Rose Parade float, visit
