Colorado starts the four-day tournament with a monster win over No. 17 Tennessee Sunday. Underdog Buffaloes (+15) kept the Volunteers 25.4% off the floor in a 78-66 triumph. The win was a rebound from an 83-74 loss at Friday’s Grambling.
UMass won its opener on Nov. 7 but then dropped a 67-55 decision against Towson last Thursday. The Minutemen were 3-favored in the loss to Towson, but they were outplayed 53.2% to 34.5%. They haven’t played since then.

Selection and predictions between Colorado and UMass
Colorado 78, UMass 71
against the spread
It seems like the loss of Grambling is a wake-up call for a solid Buffs team returning much of its rotation from a year ago (when Colorado went 21-12). Yes, Sunday’s win over the Vols was fueled by horrific UT shots. And yes, UMass had more than a few hiccups of its own in the loss to Towson.
But the Buffaloes have the defense to go for a 2-4 point win on Thursday. Peg Colorado as a better option to get to the line more often too, and the layoff and neutral ground could give the Minutemen some shooting problems.
At this price point it’s a bit of a slouch – a game with a part unit is the suggestion – but COLORADO-6.5 (-105).
These are 2 fast squads but starting early on the neutral ground makes a high 140 total a difficult 1 to consider inaccurate. HAPPEN.
