LOS ANGELES – The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) was named the 2022 Employer of the Year by the Women’s Transportation Seminar – Los Angeles Chapter (WTS-LA). The annual award recognizes the agency for its commitment to excellence, diversity in hiring and promotion, support for continuing education and professional development of employees.
“The agency provides exceptional opportunities for women in transportation and empowers women to take a leadership role in shaping the nation’s high-speed rail industry,” said LaDonna DiCamillo, regional director for Southern California, who accepted the award on behalf of the agency at WTS-LA’s Scholarship & Awards Dinner on Wednesday evening. “It is an honor to be recognized by WTS-LA for the progress the agency is making in developing and nurturing a diverse and inclusive workforce to provide an environmentally responsible, fast and safe transportation network for all Californians.”
More than half of the agency’s entire workforce is female — as is most of the executive team, many of whom were appointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom. Key initiatives and programs led by women in the agency include strategic implementation; legal counsel; strategic communication; legislative matters; information technology; planning and sustainability; administration and human resources; diversity, equity and inclusion; and regional leadership.
“WTS-LA honors the California High-Speed Rail Authority with the 2022 Employer of the Year Award for advancing women in transportation, which is key to advancing the transportation industry and ensuring a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workforce. WTS is committed to ethical leadership, integrity and respect for all as we shape future generations of transportation leaders,” said Jenelle Saunders, President of WTS-LA.
WTS International, an 8,000-strong organization with offices in the United States and Canada, is dedicated to shaping the future of transportation for the greater good of society by empowering women in transportation worldwide.
WTS-LA supports hundreds of professionals – both women and men – throughout the Los Angeles area. Local members and supporters range from transit general managers and CEOs to Fortune 500 CEOs, faculty and students to legislators and journalists across all modes and disciplines.
This is the second time the agency has been named Employer of the Year by a WTS chapter after WTS Sacramento presented the agency with the same honor in January.
