SANTA CRUZ, CA–(BUSINESS WIRE). Nearly 300 new Zero motorcycles have been shipped to Indonesia in preparation for this month’s summit. The host government’s deployment of an all-electric transport fleet marks a new milestone for one of the world’s largest economies as it reduces its dependence on fossil fuels and moves towards net-neutral emissions.
The G20 is a global forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union, representing the 20 largest economies or unions in the world. The main objectives of the G20 summit are global economic issues, including financial stability, climate change and overall sustainability. In an effort to reach zero emissions for this year’s Bali summit, Indonesian President Joko Widodo called for all government transportation used during the events to be electric vehicles. As the world leader in full-size, all-electric motorcycles, Zero Motorcycles was selected to provide premium EV models to the National Police and Indonesian National Forces, which includes the Presidential Security Force.
“Achieving President Joko Widodo’s ambitious zero emissions goals has been made possible thanks to the excellent partnership with both Zero Motorcycles and the Indonesian government, both organizations who are highly motivated to lead the transition away from fossil fuels,” said Harun Sjech, CEO of PT, Elektrick Motoriz Global, the importer of Zero Motorcycles in Indonesia. “We are very proud to have delivered all of these bikes and we look forward to expanding our relationship with Zero and the Indonesian government.”
En route to the 2022 G20 summit, Zero Motorcycles filled an order for nearly 300 electric motorcycles. The Zero DSRP (Police) motorcycle, which is exclusively available to global fleet operators and government agencies, as well as the widely used premium SR/S and SR/F models, modified for tactical use by the Indonesian security apparatus, were all part of the government agency An order.
“We applaud President Widodo and the entire Indonesian government for their clear vision, their admirable climate goals and for the speed with which they have sought to equip and train their staff for the G20 summit,” said Sam Paschel, CEO of Zero Motorcycles . “The G20 is an extremely important platform and the ability to deliver a large fleet of reliable electric motorcycles for the event is a credit to our amazing team and a benefit to the wider world.”
Founded in 2006, Zero Motorcycles operates in over 40 countries and has 10 full-size consumer models built on three different platforms for both street and dual-sport use. With models specifically designed for fleet use, currently deployed by over 240 US-based agencies and scoring more globally, Zero equips more fleets than any other two-wheel EV manufacturer in the world.
