Davis Wright Tremaine expands its practice and depth of healthcare in California with the addition of two prominent partners

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Davis Wright Tremaine LLP today announced the addition of Leslie C. Murphy and John CJ Barnes as San Francisco-based partners to its Healthcare Practice Group. Murphy and Barnes have spent most of their legal careers in Northern California and each have over 20 years of experience representing healthcare clients statewide. They came to the firm from King & Spalding where they were partners.

Murphy is a litigator representing healthcare organizations in managed care and healthcare litigation. She regularly serves as lead counsel on behalf of hospital systems and healthcare providers in managed care insurance disputes. She also advises clients on complex medical billing, coding and reimbursement matters. She has extensive experience litigating high-stakes matters and works creatively to strategize managed care contract disputes with a focus on resolving large claims. She received her BA from the University of California, Berkeley and her JD from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific.

Barnes advises managed healthcare agreement clients on structuring risk-based managed care contracts – including per-capita and shared savings agreements – as well as traditional fee-for-service agreements. He also advises on contract terminations, network access disputes and revenue cycle practices. In his role of helping clients negotiate payer agreements and develop payer strategies, Barnes prioritizes strengthening the provider’s reputation in the marketplace and improving its revenue cycle. He received his BA from the University of California San Diego and his JD from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific.
